Jennifer Schooley Announced as Virginia Business Legal Elite 2019

Virginia lawyers vote on the best in their profession

Jennifer Schooley is thankful for being chosen by her legal peers again for inclusion in the Legal Elite List by Virginia Business in the Taxes/Estates/Trusts category for 2019.  It was a year of growth and progressive change for Jennifer and the firm.  

In June, associate attorney, Kevin O’Donnell, and paralegal, Victoria Perry joined Schooley Law Firm.

In July, Jennifer began her term as chair of the Trusts and Estates section of the Virginia State Bar's Board of Governors; and in October, she spoke at Virginia CLE’s Advanced Estate Planning seminar, along with the former chair of the Family Law Section, Ed Barnes of Barnes & Diehl, on the intersection of estate planning and family law.

Scholarship is always a priority, and thus Jennifer was pleased to start the new year by attending a week of continuing legal education at the Heckerling Institute on Estate Planning and meeting her next co-panelist, Linda Radvin, who will present with Jennifer this June at the Virginia State Bar’s annual meeting.   The 82nd VSB Annual Meeting is scheduled for June 18-20, 2020 Click to learn more.

Jennifer Schooley Awarded Legal Elite for 2018

Since 2000, Virginia Business Magazine, in collaboration with the Virginia Bar Association, has been polling Virginia lawyers for the “best” in the state across 18 categories. With 14,000 lawyers polled and 3,423 nominees this year, Schooley Law Firm is honored to share that Jennifer Schooley has been awarded as one of the 1,000 members included in the Legal Elite 2018 lineup for her work in the category of Taxes/Estates/Trusts/Elder Law.

New Landscape, New Mind-scape!

A month after we “packed up our bags" like the Clampetts, and “moved on up” like the Jeffersons, we are ecstatic to be installed in our new office!  Nestled squarely in the heart of the  “arts district” of Richmond, we feel right at home where creativity, and a touch of scrappiness, co-exist.   A client asked us, “So, why did you move here?”  Let me tell you why.  

Our neighbors.  1708 Gallery, a non-profit art gallery right next door shows cutting-edge work.  Black Iris lays down tracks of original music composition for advertising agencies nationwide.  Ledbury, just downstairs, creates and produces fine mens clothing with a bit of Southern flair, and Quirk Hotel, recently voted one of the top hotels for creatives by Tablet Hotels (and top ten in the South by Southern Living), is just down a block.  And if that isn’t reason enough, after lunch we can walk next door to Charm School to get a cone of ice cream.  As a law firm, we look for creative and custom solutions for legal needs.  We can’t think of a better place for us, and better people for us to be around, to be able to do just that!

Big News – We’ve Moved!

After six years on Westerre Parkway, Schooley Law Firm has moved downtown to the Arts District!  Our new office is located at 315 West Broad Street, on the third floor above Ledbury.

Our time at Westerre IV was fantastic, but with the recent addition of Sandi Burner, our new office manager and legal assistant, as well as the imminent arrival of Hope Vance, a trust and estates paralegal, it was time to find a larger space to accommodate our growth.  We are thrilled to be closer to the liveliness of downtown and the Fan, but also pleased to report that the building has parking!  If you’re planning to stop by for a visit (please do!), give us a call. 804.270.1300
